Scaling the change beyond government requires deep systemic change in the wider ecosystem, to make way for a new ‘innovation culture’. This impacts everything from education to the relationships between the public and private sectors.
Establishing Area 2071 provided the UAE with a real sandbox - a physical space that brings together government, private sector innovation teams, accelerators, VC and PE firms, creatives, design thinkers and makers. The magic that comes from this carefully curated ecosystem, has led to incredible projects being deployed in autonomous driving, urban farming, space and government services.
Every aspect of the Area 2071 ecosystem has been designed to be formed, moved, broken down and replicated every time there is a need to change. The use of clever design, programming, digital connectivity and space - means that there are an infinite number of ways in which the ecosystem can be moulded for its members as it work’s through human kind’s biggest challenges.
The trick was to use these key principles as a basis of growing the movement beyond the central nucleus at Emirates Towers, to something that could be use to support a global audience.
Outside of all of this are the most important stakeholders that you need to engage, in order to genuinely drive change - these is citizens, residents and visitors of the UAE. Their buy-in and contribution is what fuels the efforts of the ecosystem to dream bigger and go further with their explorations.
The ‘Museum of the Future’ brings the work of the ecosystem to life in a tactile and immersive way - giving people a chance to touch, feel and experience what the future might look like. These playful exhibits expose people to some of the most complex and farfetched ideas - in a way that they can understand and see how it may one day be a part of their world. This output is critical to close the loop on the ecosystem - so that collectively progress can be seen and most importantly measured.
